Bible study is a priority at St. Francis. The ancient church father and Bible translator St. Jerome said, “Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.” Christ is the Word of God—the Expression and Communication and Revelation of Who He is in human flesh. The Bible is “God’s Word written,” the written codification of God’s epic drama of redemption and how it was brought to its climax in Jesus Christ.
At St. Francis, we offer in-depth Bible studies every Wednesday evening. Typically a detailed hand out is provided to walk us through the meaning and application of the text with frequent quotations from insightful Christian scholars and thinkers from the past 2,000 years of the church’s history.

“The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.” – Psalm 19:7–11, ESV
